Outdoor heat pump units are mounted on stands that are 12”, 18”, or 24” high. If the unit is high enough nothing needs to be done about the snow, although it can be valuable to make sure snowdrifts are not building up around the unit during snowstorms. If snow somehow gets in and causes an issue, automatic sensors in the unit will shut down the fans.
