Heat pump water heaters (HPWHs) are electric appliances that provide hot water to your home. Unlike conventional water heaters, they do not create heat, but rather they move heat from the air around the water heater into the water. They do this by using a refrigerant that absorbs heat from the air to move to the water. HPWHs are extremely efficient, and if your electricity source is 100% green, they will produce no carbon emissions.
