This technology is too new to know for sure how long the EV batteries last, although hybrid cars like the Prius, which also have a battery pack have had very few failures despite there being millions sold and Elon Musk, the founder of Tesla claims that batteries will last a million miles.
Federal law requires that all EVs come with a minimum of 8 year or 100,000 miles warranty and several EVs such as Kias and Teslas come with longer warranties. A warranty may provide new battery not only in case of total failure, but also if original has dropped below 60% to 70% range capacity. https://www.myev.com/research/buyers-sellers-advice/evaluating-electric-vehicle

There are also steps an EV owner can take to extend the battery life and performance such as:
1. Keep the battery charged to at least 20% as often as possible
2. For daily use don’t charge above 80% capacity. Charge to 100% only for long road trips.
3. Park in the shade when parking for an extended time.
4. On very hot days keep your car plugged in when possible, even when fully charged.
