If you have not signed up with a competitive electric supplier, you have historically been on what’s called Eversource “Basic Service.” Basic Service means that Eversource both delivers your electricity and purchases electricity on the market to deliver to you.
If you have historically been on Basic Service, then you have automatically been switched to Newton Power Choice unless you “opted out.” This is because municipal electricity aggregation programs are “opt-out” programs under Massachusetts law. That means that if a city or town adopts an aggregation program, electricity customers who are on Basic Service become part of the aggregation unless they choose not to be.
You can sign up, change which rate you are on, or opt out by calling 1-833-272-9592 or going to the Newton Power Choice website.
