The program will last as long as the the City of Newton continues to sign new agreements for electricity supply.
The current agreement with Direct Energy extends through January 2024. At that point, the City can continue the program by signing a new electricity supply contract, or it can end the program and return all participants to Eversource’s Basic Service. The City intends to continue the program, and is preparing to go out to bid for another electricity supply contract.
