Check your most recent Eversource bill. If you are enrolled in Newton Power Choice, your electricity supplier will be listed as “Direct Energy Newton Power Choice.”
You can tell which renewables level you’re enrolled at by, once again, looking at the electricity supplier line. There will be a kilowatt hour (kWh) price listed. Compare that price to the price on the Newton Power Choice website.
If you were not automatically enrolled in Newton Power Choice it is most likely because you previously signed your own contract with a competitive electricity supplier.
If you signed your own contract with a competitive supplier, you can enroll in Newton Power Choice, but should first check the terms of your existing contract. Many such contracts include minimum enrollment periods and early termination fees. If your contract is about to expire, you may want to stick with it. If there is still substantial time left on the contract, you will want to determine whether there is a significant early termination fee.
