A great question, because heat pumps work a bit differently than the HVAC systems we've used over the last few decades: while conventional systems were made to operate at maximum capacity and change the temperature in a room very quickly, heat pumps work best (most efficient) when they are maintaining a constant temperature. This is often called "set it and forget it." So, find a temperature that's comfortable for you and stick with it. If you'd like to program your thermostat to lower the temperature a bit overnight for comfort reasons, or keep the standard temperature in rooms you don't use as often a bit lower than the rest of the house, that can be great, but don't set the system to do big temperature changes unless you'll be gone for more than 24 hours.
