Navigating Mass Save can be confusing, so first: if you'd like to talk through more details about your specific situation, please email energycoach@newtonma.gov and we can help you with what is most applicable for you. But in general:
If you scheduled an assessment by calling the main Mass Save phone number, your Energy Specialist may have automatically connected you with an Independent Installation Contractor (IIC), a separate company from the company the Energy Specialist works for. You are welcome to choose this IIC or your own from the IIC list.
If you scheduled an assessment through a Home Performance Contractor, the expectation is you would use their in-house insulation team for follow-up work. There may be a chance you could transfer the insulation job to an IIC instead, but it may get difficult to do so. Alternatively, you could wait until two years from the date of your assessment and start the process again.
